The room), Debbie Rochon (Return to nuke ‘em high), Deborah Reed (Troll 2), Mark Frazer (Samurai cop), James Nguyen (Birdemic) i molts d’altres.

Com a complement perfecte als documentals Rewind this! (2013) i Adjust your tracking (2012), VHS massacre us deixarà al·lucinats.

VHS Massacre, the VHS documentary we were all waiting for

VHSMassacreVHS Massacre: Cult Films and the Decline of Physical Media, the new Troma documentary about the decay of the VHS era, is a delight for those who grew up during the boom of the videocassette recorder and might also interest the new generation of film spectators accostumed to streaming and watching movies on their tablets and cell phones.

Directed by Thomas Edward Seymour and Kenneth Powell, VHS Massacre delves into the rise and fall of VHS tapes, box covers with the film titles and the independent companies whose inventive in cheesy and overused plots made them more than appealing for those teenagers in the 80s who were looking for new violence twists, sex scenes and loads of action.

VHS Massacre has interviews with independent media icons such as Bob Briggs (MonsterVision), Lloyd Kaufman (Toxic Avenger), Greg Sestero (The Room), Debbie Rochon (Return to Nuke ‘Em High), Deborah Reed (Troll 2), Mark Frazer (Samurai Cop), James Nguyen (Birdemic) and many others.

tumblr_nxg98m4b061stvj6to1_1280In the documentary, many questions arise regarding the way we consume films. What is going to happen with small producers in the world of digital streaming? How are they going to cope both financially and creatively? When video shelves are empty and stores have morphed into humongous digital landscapes, what are the roles of the new independent film producers and movie directors of small companies?

A good complement to Rewind this! (2013) and Adjust your Tracking (2013), VHS Massacre will leave you reeling. It’s a must for all B-movie geeks and I also recommend it to those who are now spending their precious time catching pokemons.
